THE WEATHER TODAY
This week, the Alps will be located at the front of a powerful Atlantic low-pressure system, which will extend its low-pressure branches over Western Europe and the western Mediterranean region. The resulting southerly foehn wind will cause quite changeable weather and, away from the main Alpine ridge, continued dry conditions. On Tuesday, a stormy southerly foehn will blow in the mountains. This will bring fairly sunny weather north of the main Alpine ridge, while the main Alpine ridge itself may see some brief snowfall from the south. The southerly foehn will noticeably subside on Wednesday. Heavy cloud cover will prevail, but precipitation is not expected. On Thursday, the southerly foehn will pick up again and bring generally sunny weather conditions. Friday, on the other hand, promises more extensive cloud cover and little sunshine. The weekend will also reflect this changeable weather pattern. On Saturday, clouds will block out the sun, while on Sunday, sunshine will once again dominate the sky.
