THE WEATHER TODAY
A temporary high-pressure system building over our area on Friday will manage to hold on into Saturday, but new high cloud fields are already mixing into the weather pattern. Initially, this will only dampen the sunshine, but as the day progresses, it will increasingly be overshadowed. The thickening clouds are part of a weak warm front, which will have crossed our region by Sunday noon. This will not only bring light precipitation on Sunday morning but also cause temperatures and the snow line to rise markedly. Additionally, the wind will shift to southwest during the day, leading to a stormy southerly foehn weather situation developing over us on Monday. Along the main Alpine ridge, this will result in a weak southerly orographic lift, while north of it, the clouds may break up more strongly with the wind. Towards Tuesday, the foehn will be replaced by a cold front. With heavy cloud cover, the snow line will drop significantly below 1000m above sea level. Although dry conditions will temporarily set in by the middle of next week, the weather pattern will remain consistently changeable.
