With effect from 1 May 2026, Martin Ladner, who holds a degree in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration, has taken up the position of Managing Director at Bergbahnen Kappl AG. A native of Kappl and a resident of the town, Mr Ladner had previously served as an authorised signatory at the company and brings with him not only sound business management expertise but also extensive specialist knowledge and many years of international experience in cable car construction.
With the appointment of Martin Ladner, the Supervisory Board of Bergbahnen Kappl AG is committed to continuity in the company’s successful management whilst also ensuring the future-oriented development of its management structure. A year ago, on the recommendation of the former Managing Director, Ing. Andreas Kleinheinz, the Supervisory Board had already laid the groundwork for an orderly succession plan and appointed Martin Ladner as the company’s authorised signatory.
Andreas Kleinheinz, an engineer and long-standing member of the board of Bergbahnen Kappl AG, has chosen not to renew his term of office. Under his leadership, the company took significant steps forward – foremost among them the successful construction of the new chairlift, which is regarded as a major milestone in the further development of the ski resort.
Martin Ladner is providing fresh impetus for Kappl’s future.
“With great respect for what has already been achieved in Kappl, and with a clear vision for the future, I will continue to develop Bergbahnen Kappl with energy and foresight. Our aim is to combine sustainable growth with the highest quality of experience for our guests and to continually set new trends in our holiday and leisure offerings. Together with our partners in the region, we will tap into new opportunities, drive forward innovative projects and strengthen Kappl as a robust, sustainable mountain destination – economically, socially and environmentally,” emphasises Martin Ladner, the new CEO of Bergbahnen Kappl AG.
Kappl continues to invest in quality, comfort and sustainable mountain experiences.
Following the successful construction of the new chairlift, Bergbahnen Kappl AG is now focusing on the further modernisation of the ski resort, additional improvements to guest comfort and the sustainable enhancement of its competitiveness. Together with the new board of directors, Kappl is to be further developed as an attractive mountain destination in both winter and summer.
The Kappl Mountain Railways form part of the Kappl & See ski area, which boasts a total of 85 kilometres of slopes and 20 lifts. The ski area impresses with its high-altitude location guaranteeing reliable snow cover, a modern snow-making system, a range of dining experiences and attractive options for freeriders.
An important step in the development process was the modernisation of the access lift: the previous lift was replaced by a high-capacity 10-seater gondola lift, which significantly improved both comfort and passenger capacity.
The Alpe Dias also plays a key role in the summer. With its adventure park, a 4.2-kilometre mountain cart track and a flow trail running from the mountain station to the valley station, it is a versatile destination for families, walkers and cyclists. At the same time, the Alpe Dias continues to be managed as an alpine pasture area – regional character and a healthy balance between tourism and agriculture therefore remain particularly important.
TVB President Alexander von der Thannen congratulates Martin Ladner on his new role.
Alexander von der Thannen, President of the Paznaun-Ischgl Tourist Board, warmly congratulates Martin Ladner on his appointment as the new Managing Director of Bergbahnen Kappl AG: “We look forward to continuing our collaboration and are confident that, together, we will further build on the strengths of our region – particularly the holiday resort and ski area of Kappl – and successfully implement numerous exciting projects for guests and locals alike. On behalf of the Paznaun-Ischgl Tourism Association and the entire team, I wish Martin Ladner all the best in his new role, every success, and many interesting and fulfilling challenges.”
With Martin Ladner at the helm, Bergbahnen Kappl AG is building on a combination of strong regional roots, international industry experience and strategic vision. The aim is to further strengthen Kappl’s position as a modern, sustainable and quality-focused mountain destination – in both winter and summer.
