With the opening of a state-of-the-art wave simulator, the Silvretta Therme Ischgl is bringing the thrill of surfing to the Alps. Just in time for the start of the summer season on 27 June 2026, the spa will be enhanced by a sporting highlight aimed at beginners and experienced surfers alike. The wave-riding facility is located on Level 1 of the spa, where the ice-skating rink operates in winter. The winter rink is thus transformed in summer into a venue for dynamic water sports experiences.
The only facility of its kind in Tyrol
“With the surf wave, we’re bringing the trend of surfing to the mountains and making it accessible to a wide audience. The facility is the only one of its kind in Tyrol, and so we’re creating another attractive summer experience for the region and for our guests,” says Christine Senn, Head of Department at Silvretta Therme Ischgl.
Snacks and drinks at the ice cream bar
Right next to the surf centre is the ice cream bar, which becomes a meeting place for spectators and sports enthusiasts in the summer. A varied selection of light bites and dishes is served here, along with refreshing drinks to quench thirsts big and small after a day’s surfing. Whether as a quick break between two sessions on the waves or a relaxing way to round off a day at the thermal spa: the combination of activity and enjoyment takes centre stage.
Prices, time slots and ticket booking
Once the thermal baths have opened, the wave-riding facility can be used on a regular basis. A surfing slot lasts 30 minutes and costs 18 euros per person. During this time, up to five guests share the facility and take turns surfing. Tickets for the wave are available both via the Silvretta Therme Ischgl online ticket shop and directly at the on-site ticket office. The limited number of places per time slot ensures that everyone has enough time to enjoy the wave.
With its new mobile surfing wave, the Silvretta Therme Ischgl is sending a clear signal about an expanded summer programme in the Alps, combining sporting challenges with leisure fun for the whole family.
